A deserted market reopened on Friday to thousands of excited punters.
The so-called covered market in Greenwich was transformed in three weeks by London Union, operators of Street Feast, bringing together eight street food traders into the Plumstead Road site.
London Union owner Jonathan Downey was blown away by the crowd of hungry punters who flocked to the Public Woolwich Market on Friday and Saturday.
More than 4,000 people turned up over the weekend. Mr Downey, 52, said the most he had been expecting was 1,700.
He said: “We had a great opening party and I loved meeting so many locals who were so pleased to see us come to Woolwich.
“We’ve still lots more work to do but the place is looking good and, after this freezing weather, we are ready for anything.”
The street food traders include Yum Bun, Yumplings, Burger & Beyond, INK, Salt Shed, HENhaus, Lava Bar and Rust Bucket Pizza Co.
There are bars on two levels in the market and rainbow roof covers them.
Mr Downey has been in the bar and restaurant business for 20 years and his other Street Feast venues include the Model Market in Lewisham.
Public Woolwich Market will be open every Friday from 5pm and every Saturday from noon.
